What’s Happening in the Junction this Christmas | Junction Factory

Everyone loves the holidays unless your name begins with the letter "G" and ends with the word "rinch.” Tis the season of gift-giving, festive lights that sparkle in the winter nights, and even ugly Christmas sweaters that so many people enjoy (we won't judge). The fact remains Christmas has something for everyone to enjoy. The season has a way of putting everyone in a good mood unless you’re the Grinch, of course. Christmas in Toronto is an experience within itself. Many neighbourhoods in Toronto have fun events to attend, but none of those neighbourhoods celebrate Christmas like the Junction. The Junction is known for its hip streetscapes and excellent selection of cafes and bars. Whether you've been naughty or nice, the truth is that Junction Christmas has so much to offer.

Have you ever walked through a window wonderland? Yes, that's correct, a "window" wonderland. This Window Wonderland in the Junction is the first of its kind in Toronto. The experience is a free immersive urban art walk that transforms the Junction into an outdoor gallery featuring 20 unique augmented reality installations. Most artists are Canadian, but the outdoor gallery garners participants from countries all over the globe, including Brazil, India, Turkey and South Africa. Visitors can see the artwork come to life simply by downloading the AR app and pointing their phone cameras at the large-scale artwork. The show is great because it allows you to experience the art at your own time and at your own pace. This art show has become one of the highlight Christmas events in the Junction. The event takes place from November 26 to January 2, 2022.

The next stop in the Junction holiday tour is the virtual holiday market. Another annual event in the Junction has stood the test of time. The market features charming products from local businesses. The market is a great space to get one-of-a-kind gifts that you won't be able to find at those big box stores. These gifts could be a unique way to show someone you care. Shoppers at the market get exclusive products. You can buy homemade, plant-based soaps, vintage silverware, stained-glass pieces, cheeky t-shirts and much more. Another benefit from the market is it helps raise funds for Community of Hearts, a Guelph-based organization that supports youth, adults and seniors with developmental exceptionalities.

The final stops are where you can enjoy a great meal, a coffee or some spirits with your friends and family. The junction is known for its quaint, hole-in-the-wall shops that have the most delicious food. These shops are important parts of the community because many of them are local and give back to the neighbourhood. During the holidays, you are sure to find Christmas-inspired items on the menu. To be quite honest, many shops love to decorate their storefront with holidays lights that are sure to get you in the mood for some Christmas carols. Now that COVID restrictions are being lifted, it's time to get outside and enjoy the holidays.

There's so much to do but so little time to do it (you literally have until the New Year). Don't be a Grinch and let this holiday season pass you by without indulging in the spirit of the holiday season. The Junction has so many fun and exciting experiences for everyone to enjoy. Whether you want to take in a view by enjoying artworks and festive lights, or you want to sit in a café enjoying a coffee as you browse the Junction Christmas market, there is undoubtedly something for everyone.
