Top 7 Favourite Restaurants In The Junction, Toronto

Toronto's coolest neighbourhood, the Junction, has transformed into a patio lovers' paradise.  Stretching along Dundas Street West between Indian Grove and Quebec Avenue, this bustling community is densely lined with dining destinations in just a few short blocks. Take your taste buds around the globe when you spend an afternoon or a starry night happily patio hopping across the lively streets of the Junction with this list of top restaurants as your guide.

Kanto by Tita Flips

Kanto by Tita Flips has been serving bold and distinct Filipino street food since its first opening on Dundas Street West in 2013. Each region in the Philippians has its distinctive flavours and unique tastes, but owner Diona Joyce blends them deliciously together.

Patrons rave about the plantain or banana spring rolls, Kamayan Kits that come with an assortment of meats or seafood, Sisig Fries ( offal meat, pork belly, chicharron and topped with garlic bites) and much more. Quench your thirst with their house-brewed Orange Pekoe iced tea.

The Alpine Toronto

The Alpine is a modern mountain lodge that gets its name from the original diner The Alps situated in the same spot in 1934. The Alpine serves up European-inspired craft beers alongside a delicious mix of comfort foods.

Try their steamed mussels cooked with thyme, garlic, lemon and chorizo. The Alpine board is also a popular choice with traditional European foods, including sausages, potato salad, pork schnitzel, rum and cola braised brisket, slaw, roasted brussel sprouts, a pretzel, fiery house hot sauce, mustard, and cheddar dip. Don't leave before you wash it all down with a cold beer.

Nodo Junction

Who doesn't love traditional Italian food? Nodo offers classic Italian dishes in a charming, rustic environment. With a focus on fresh and regional tastes, all of Nodo's savoury meals are prepared from scratch — that means everything is made entirely in-house.

The extensive menu includes classic personal-size pizzas or calzones and delicious fresh pasta, complemented by delectable appetizers and an all-Italian wine list. Try their handmade cannolis filled with sweet ricotta cream dipped in crushed pistachio and chocolate shavings for dessert.

Playa Cabana Cantina

Make taco Tuesday every day at Playa Cabana Cantina. Mexican food in a funky, artsy environment that undoubtedly matches the upbeat, eclectic vibe of the Junction neighbourhood.

Patrons come for their spicy tacos with fresh tortillas shells, burritos, or nachos and stay for their extensive tequila collection and cocktail list. The cocktails primarily include tequila-based takes on classic drinks like the Negroni, Playa Paloma, a kind of margarita using grapefruit juice rather than lime, and an Old Fashioned called rightfully renamed to the "New Fashion."

Indie Ale House Brewery

Cheers to the Indie Ale House Brewery for creating delicious craft beers made for everyone over the last eight years! After being closed for a year and four months, the brewing company opened a beautiful patio so patrons can sip on a cold craft beer while enjoying the fantastic summer weather.

With a delectable food menu (you have to try their crispy fried chicken) and phenomenal beer list, your experience will be nothing short of amazing. Try one of many Indie Alehouse Brewing Company's staple beers, like the Instigator IPA, for a mild citrusy flavour. If you're in the mood to taste test, you can try their flight to get a taste of the beer that's right for you.

Dirty Food Eatery

Let's get right into it. Why on earth would anyone want their food to be dirty? Well, "dirty food" is more of a concept than a reality. Dirty Food Eatery is the embodiment of homemade comfort foods and indulging in guilty pleasure eating.

Try the fan favourite chicken 'n' waffles' with their Dirty Food mayo or the mac 'n' cheese grilled cheese sandwich served on a buttery grilled pullman. And if you're looking for a cocktail with a twist, the dirty caesar might be of interest with its house-made pickled beet juice instead of tomato juice.

Curry Twist

Curry Twist has been on the block for nearly two decades and consistently serves some of the best Indian food the city has to offer. Anant Singh, Curry Twist's owner, believes in authentic, flavoursome dishes that serve India's rich taste.

Enjoy butter chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetarian dishes made in the style of Mughlai cuisine. Mughlai dishes are flavoured using rich sauces, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, onion and more. The combination of these spices is known to have medicinal properties. Food at Curry Twist not only satisfies your body but also enriches your soul.
